Job Summary

A Health Assistant will be responsible for all duties to safely provide for the resident’s care and well-being in a professional manner.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assists residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transfer, mobility, and continence care while using appropriate modeling and validation techniques.
• Supports the residents’ abilities by understanding that all aspects of care can be viewed as an activity.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the cognitive, physical, behavioral and psychosocial approach to all aspects of dementia by using a sensitive approach to all aspects of resident care.
• Provides appropriate interventions to maximize the resident’s social and ADL functioning.
• Demonstrates therapeutic conversation and redirection conversation with residents, offering appropriate cues (toilet, snacks and liquids).
• Encourages residents to participate in daily activity program.
• Serves residents food as directed, including feeding skills.
• Knows and complies with all resident rights.
• Receives and gives report of on-going shifts by oral and/or written log.
• Participates in appropriate recreational activities and hobbies for social and sensory stimulation.
• Maintains a safe environment within the resident’s apartment.
• Accompanies the resident on walks, community trips, doctor’s office visits, bank, etc.
• May perform light housekeeping/laundry to maintain a clean, neat environment.
• Delivers a differentiated experience in a friendly, helpful, and courteous manner with resident and family satisfaction as a priority.
• Effectively communicates with residents, families and friends of resident.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the resident’s history, interests, physical and cognitive abilities to help provide a successful living experience.
• Must have or be willing to get a COVID-19 vaccine, subject to legal requirements.

Preferred Skills

• 0- 1+ year(s) professional experience in Client homes, senior citizens centres or old age homes or in hospital.

Qualification Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Training certifications in CPR/FA, GDA,HHA and Bedside assistant
• Any state-mandated certification
• Minimum 1+ year(s) professional experience
• Must be over 18 years old

Knowledge Required

• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid (CPR)
